Two dengue deaths in five days have highlighted how diseases that usually don’t occur beyond November have lingered this year while the usual winter suspects have yet to show up because of warmer weather than is normal for the season.

Hospitals and clinics in town have reported an unusually high incidence of dengue, malaria and viral fever in the first week of December, when influenza and bacterial infections would have been bigger threats had the weather stuck to the script.
