Brendan Noakes planned to celebrate his 30th birthday in Bali – but not quite like this.

Instead of surfing with mates, Brendan ended up in a Denpasar hospital with a nightmare trifecta – dengue fever, malaria AND typhoid.

As the holiday season kicks off – and thousands of Australians prepare to travel overseas – doctors have issued a timely warning.”Australians who are travelling to at risk destinations are not seeking pre-travel health advice from their doctor or their travel health specialist,” Dr Eddy Barjovic told 7 News.

The top disease danger-zones are Southern and Southeast Asia, South America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
