This year’s first confirmed case of the H7N9 avian influenza virus was reported by Hong Kong’s Centre for Health Protection on Tuesday.
The patient, a 60-year old man is now in a stable condition, the Hong Kong centre said. The patient originally from Suzhou City, east China’s Jiangsu Province arrived in Hong Kong on Feb 5.
Reports state that on Feb 8, the man suffered from multiple flu related symptoms including a fever, cough and shortness of breath. He went to several hospitals and was diagnosed with pneumonia, but later tested positive for the avian influenza virus by Hong Kong’s Public Health Laboratory Services. He was later admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital for further treatment.Read More
