Fever Pitch: Over 8000 cases of dengue in Thailand so far this year


More than 8,000 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Thailand in the last two months, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

A total of 8,651 people have been infected this year with dengue fever, resulting in one death.

Health officials say this puts Thailand on track to have an infection rate as severe as that of 2013, when more than 150,000 people were diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease.

Public health agencies have been tasked with raising awareness of how to destroy mosquito breeding grounds around homes, schools and offices.
